Infinite Monuments (2016)
In this series I have created images that at first glance seem like believable places, but upon further inspection the composite nature of these images and the impossible scenes they purpose become obvious. I explore the over aestheticized nature of the gas station and its architecture, while isolating and monumentalizing it within a landscape. I was intrigued by the social/anti-social environment created by gas stations, a heterotopia which purposes a very different social code from our usual everyday spaces, as well as the larger environmental, and capitalist issues concerning them.
